Spring 2022

The Logo

‘Trypraying’ is a non-threatening statement. It is an encouragement for anyone to talk to their Maker. It has become a topic of conversation because it has been visible in many places: banners on churches and an impressive bus advertising campaign in many cities.

The Booklet

The trypraying booklet is not for Christians. It is unapologetically for those outside the church: the irreligious and the self-respecting agnostic! It is an outrageous exposure to the grace and power of God. It's something to give away to people you meet. So you will need to use it and then lose it.

The Project

The idea is for everyone to be given the booklet one Sunday to use themselves. The next week everyone is encouraged to look for a God-given opportunity to give it to a neigbour, colleague or a friend. When churches do this together it can make an impact across the whole town or city.

Spring 2022: It's a wild idea to give people a decent chance to hear about Jesus.

Churches in towns, villages and cities are trying something together in Spring 2022. It’s an exciting, whole-church activity that has everyone praying and then getting into conversations about faith. ‘Use it’ – one Sunday everyone is given a copy of the trypraying booklet to use themselves. 'Lose it' - the next Sunday: everyone is encouraged to look for a God-given opportunity to give the booklet to a friend, colleague or whoever they meet.

The use of trypraying banners outside churches makes it a visible and gently provocative invitation for people to begin to do life with God. Bought advertising puts this further into the public space so everyone can hear about it.

Churches across the UK are making use of this initiative. Last year there were around 400 churches and many hundreds of people personally involved too.  This year there will be more.  It is an opportunity for churches in a townumber of cities are working on using trypraying in a coordinated way.

The heart of it all however is that simple step of people beginning to talk to their Maker. Being given the trypraying booklet with a straightforward encouragement to ‘try praying for a week and see what happens’ has been the starting point for many.

There are of course lots of ideas.  Check out some of them on our ideas page and perhaps come up with others.
